Ras Qulah & Friends
With over 25 years of experience in music and culture, Ras Qulah is a true ambassador of reggae, embodying the unifying power of sound and message. His mission is clear: to unite people across borders, backgrounds, and generations, and to inspire them to live a conscious and positive life through positive vibrations – inspired by icons like Bob Marley.
Under the banner "Ras Qulah & Friends," every performance becomes more than just a show – it becomes a collective experience. With rotating guest artists, live elements, and carefully curated selections of reggae, dancehall, and Afro-inspired sounds, an energetic and inclusive atmosphere is created that moves both body and mind.
Dadda Dice & True Colours
TRUE COLOURS is a six-piece reggae-dancehall band from Bremen, Germany, centered around the charismatic singer-songwriter Dadda Dice from Grenada. With his profound lyrics exploring themes of love, hope, and social commentary, as well as his high-energy stage presence, he has already made a name for himself in the international reggae scene. The other band members also bring decades of musical experience from a wide range of genres. Musically, True Colours moves between classic reggae, modern dancehall influences, and melodic pop elements. At its core is a warm, hypnotic groove and an infectious joy of playing that inevitably gets the audience dancing. The name says it all: In every song, the musicians reveal their "true colors"—vibrant, honest, intercultural, and full of positive energy.
Brennholzverleih
Since their founding in 2012, Brennholzverleih has established itself as a fixture in Bremen's music scene. With a horn section, two guitars, bass, drums, and charismatic vocals, they deliver unforgettable live experiences. Now they follow up with their new LP, "Zustände" (States), which once again impresses with driving rhythms, clever lyrics, and a healthy dose of infectious enthusiasm.

The Busters
CALLING is our collective soundtrack against stagnation: so much is going wrong in the world, and we're doing something about it. Our answer? Amps on, guitars loud, horns added, taking a stand. Nine people on one stage, with a clear message: no tolerance for racism. CALLING means: speak up when it matters and be loud when others remain silent.
CALLING is also the name of our new album, released in autumn 2025 – our most intimate project to date, shaped by turbulent times and inspired by the most personal themes. We've rarely sounded so close to ourselves. From the streets straight into the spotlight.
Schmutzfinger
Dirtyfinger creates a tense atmosphere. Nothing is left unsaid. Dirtyfinger invites you to dance. Dirtyfinger sets you up.
Driving bass lines under your skin, Schmutzfinger replaces your heartbeat with a bass drum. Schmutzfinger's guitar strings
They tell you stories you don't want to believe. Dirtyfinger strokes your fragile ego and brings you back down to earth. Dirtyfinger laughs mockingly into the microphone, and you feel addressed, turned on, repelled, attracted, undressed. Dirtyfinger is Post Punkt.
Veigh Malow
How can you resist? Vibrant colors, boundless energy, and songs that instantly invite you to sing along. Veigh Malow delivers it all! – and we're instantly invited to the party.
From shimmering indie-pop highlights to quieter, more intimate moments, her songs reveal a range that is emotionally gripping and instantly captivating. Since her debut EP Sisyphus (2023), through why (2024), to her current EP Swimming is Lame (2025), the title track I'll Take The Cake makes one thing clear: she doesn't just want a piece of the cake – she's taking the whole thing. She brings her songs to life on stage with her five-piece band.
Ready for glitter, sweat and lots of dancing?
ANNES EX
A former lover, a shattered dream, a failed life plan – whoever or whatever “Anne” was, the guys from Annes Ex have apparently closed one chapter to open a new one. They've been writing this new chapter since 2022 with their unmistakable DIY style. Annes Ex sound different. Not formulaic, not conformist, not interchangeable. Sincere lyrics with depth, the likes of which are rarely found. Not radio material, although they've been played there, but they feel most at home on Bremen's stages, both big and small. After their debut EP “Schwer emotional” (Heavy Emotional) and several single releases, they've reached their current peak with their self-produced debut album “Herz schlägt” (Heart Beats). An impressive manifesto of their artistic output. And while the vinyl is being pressed, the Bremen-based band is already working behind the scenes on their next project. Why rest when the best songs haven't been written yet and the most awesome shows haven't been played? If you ask the guys, that's what matters: music that lasts.
Afterburner
AFTERBURNER doesn't mess around: The band ignites the stage the moment they step inside, and the audience immediately feels the raw energy of hits spanning 50 years of music history. Every concert becomes an intense experience. AFTERBURNER stands for creative rock interpretations of significant songs from music history, paired with an explosive live show and more than 25 years of stage experience. Since 1996, the band has become a fixture on the North German event calendar (Kiel Week, Bremen Freimarkt, Oldenburg City Festival, Maschsee Festival Hanover, SAIL Bremerhaven, etc.), playing everything from atmospheric club gigs and festivals to supporting world-renowned stars (Uriah Heep, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, The Hooters, Roger Hodgson/Supertramp, etc.).
READY, STEADY, ROCK! – with AFTERBURNER into the rock star universe!
Eastafrican Afrofusion Ras Qulah, Kamozola, Blessing Akelo
When musical worlds collide and create more groove than in a crowded dance hall at midnight, then Kamzola, DJ Ras Qulah and Blessing Akelo are at work.
Kamzola, the buttery-smooth voice from Zanzibar, sounds as if the Indian Ocean itself has decided to learn to sing.
Then DJ Ras Qulah enters the scene, the veteran reggae musician from Uganda. A man who has seen more stages than many a roadie and has shared the bass with seemingly every big name in the reggae scene.
And finally, Blessing Akelo, the golden-throated singer from Kenya. Her voice moves effortlessly between sensitive tenderness and raw power – as if simultaneously comforting and awakening.
Together, the three are a musical adventure: traditional African sounds meet reggae, gospel, and soul – and they understand each other surprisingly well. It's as if these genres have secretly conspired to create something new together. The result is a sound that feels both familiar and completely fresh. Anyone who remains still during this either has ironclad discipline or is simply listening to the wrong song.
Green Blues Band
When Lithuanian Danny Lee met enthusiastic blues guitarist Ole Morisse in Bremen in 2003 with a suitcase full of blues harps and the legendary GREEN Bullet Mic, the formation of the GREEN Blues Band was inevitable. Interpretations of blues and rock classics by artists such as Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Joe Bonamassa, as well as original songs, have been thrilling the German and international blues scene ever since. Their CDs, produced in 2011 and 2019, received positive international reviews.
Feedback from the Netherlands to the UK. With the relentlessly driving beat of drummer Rasmus Bruns (since 2013) and the earthy bass of Christian Figge, aka “Doc Snuggles” (since 2020), the Green Blues Band will inevitably get the esteemed audience on their feet and moving.
Alison Degbe & Boyke Dettmer's sextet
The Alison Degbe & Boyke Dettmers Sextet unites outstanding musicians from the Bremen jazz scene into a sonically diverse ensemble that organically blends classic swing, soulful ballads, and bossa nova influences. With vocals, vibraphone, saxophone, piano, bass, and drums, they create a warm, dynamic band sound that is equally captivating.
It appears both traditional and vibrant.
Together, the sextet develops a sound that thrives on subtle interaction, a joy of playing, and musical maturity. Whether intimate club concerts or festival stages – the Alison Degbe & Boyke Dettmers Sextet stands for vibrant jazz with personality.
TOM TOXIC & the Poison Jerrys
"TOM TOXIC & the Poison Jerrys" is a band from the far north of Germany – where the wind is sharper than any guitar string and even seagulls nod their heads to the beat. The whole thing started in 2022 as a one-off rescue gig for a friend who was a promoter. A classic case of "one gig can't hurt." Spoiler alert: It didn't stop there. What began as a spontaneous help-out evolved into a full-fledged band faster than you can say "rock 'n' roll." Since then, ToM TOXIC & his Poison Jerrys have been wreaking havoc on stages of all sizes – from sweaty clubs to massive festival grounds. Whether supporting established acts or headlining their own set, the band feels at home anywhere, as long as it's loud and someone's tapping their foot. Rumor has it they've even played in cities like Hamburg, Berlin, or the legendary Las Vegas. Musically, nothing here is done half-heartedly: Rock 'n' roll forms the basis, but what's served up is a wild cocktail of rockabilly, punk rock, garage, and psychobilly. Depending on the mood, a dash of country, a touch of folk, or a good swig of blues is added. They sing in German and English – the main thing is that it rocks and gets stuck in your head.
In short: “TOM TOXIC & the poison jerrys” stand for honest, unfiltered rock 'n' roll with a wink and a clear
Announcement: The stage is set, let's go!
Rockstew
It all started on one of those evenings when no one had planned for anything special to happen. Bar lights, good vibes, conversations that were sometimes serious, sometimes complete nonsense—and right in the middle of it all, that sentence that started it all: "Why not?" What began as a casual idea amidst drinks and laughter became serious faster than anyone could have imagined. Suddenly there were instruments in the room, suddenly they were rehearsing, suddenly there was something that felt like a band. A crazy idea that refused to stay just that. The lineup changed, especially on guitar. Every change brought a new sound, new energy, a new direction. And at some point, it was clear: Now it works. Now this is Rockstew—the way it's supposed to sound.
Iris at the microphone, Bernd with rhythm in his blood, Michi between keys and strings, Marcus with the guitar fire, and Marco on bass, holding it all together. Five people, five paths, one shared sound. With each gig, not only did their experience grow, but so did their ambition. The response became louder, more honest, warmer. And that's exactly what encouraged the band to keep going: cover rock, handmade, energetic, with fun, sweat, and genuine heart.
Aesthetic Dee Jay
ESTHETIC DEE JAY is Betty's Black Pearl's resident DJ – the man who reliably turns "I'm just popping in for a drink" into a complete loss of control. Behind the turntables, he's no ordinary DJ, but a self-proclaimed Afrobeat Master who effortlessly blurs the lines between Afrobeats, American piano, reggae, R&B, dancehall, and international sounds. While others are still pondering which song to play next, he's already played it – at precisely the right moment.
His sets are like a well-seasoned cocktail: hot, surprising, and with a powerful effect. Sometimes groovy, sometimes driving, sometimes so smooth that even those who dislike dancing suddenly discover rhythmic abilities they never knew they had. At Betty's Black Pearl, he's more than just a DJ – he's a mood architect, a beat provider, and the unofficial person responsible for sweaty dance floors and tired legs the next morning. In short: when ESTHETIC DEE JAY is on the decks, not only do the temperatures rise, but so do the vibes. And anyone who stays still either hasn't heard the beat – or has a serious problem with good music.
Climate Cinema goes HOEG: Music Festivals - Between Activism and Greenwashing
The popular KlimaKino (Climate Cinema) of the non-profit climate protection agency energiekonsens is leaving its usual four walls in the Klima Bau Zentrum (Knochenhauerstr. 9) and moving outdoors: On June 21, the format will be a guest for the first time on the Domshof stage at the HOEG Festival.
After a brief overview of the services offered by the non-profit climate protection agency, a real film highlight is on the program: the Swiss short documentary "Music Festivals - Between Activism and Greenwashing" (2024, 30 min.).
The film by Music Declares Emergency Switzerland takes an unvarnished look behind the scenes of the festival scene: Where does genuine eco-activism in the music industry begin, and where is it merely clever greenwashing?
Good to know: The documentary is shown in the original Swiss audio with English subtitles.
